How the season ended
Both finals were played at Lord's on 16 August 2026. In the men's final Trent Rockets made 158 for 8 and Manchester Super Giants chased it down with two balls to spare, finishing on 162 for 5. In the women's final Sunrisers Leeds made 91 and Trent Rockets passed it for the loss of two wickets with 46 balls unused (Wikipedia).
The women's result is worth a second look. A chase completed with 46 of 100 balls left is not a close game, and a table that only records a win and a loss hides that gap. This is the same problem net run rate exists to solve, and the reason we explain it in our guide to net run rate.

An innings is 100 balls, not 20 overs. The bowler's unit is a set of five balls, and a bowler may deliver two sets back to back, which is where the ten-ball spell comes from. No bowler can send down more than 20 balls in an innings (The Hundred).
The powerplay is the first 25 balls of an innings, with two fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle. The fielding side changes ends every 10 balls, and each bowling side gets one strategic timeout of up to 90 seconds (competition rules).
The practical difference from a T20 is smaller than the marketing suggests: 100 balls against 120 is a sixth less cricket, so a par score drops by roughly the same share. If you are used to reading a T20 chase, the mental arithmetic still works — the run rate is quoted per 100 balls rather than per over, and a required rate of 9 an over is 7.5 runs per ten balls here.
What does change is the value of a wicket. With fewer balls to recover, a collapse inside the powerplay is harder to repair than in a T20, and the finals bore that out: the women's chase was over as a contest the moment the first innings stalled at 91.
Why an Indian reader would follow it
Two reasons, and neither of them is loyalty to a city in England. The first is squad overlap: players who appear here in August are on the same auction lists and injury reports that matter to an Indian season later in the year. The second is format literacy — a 100-ball game is a clean way to see how a par score and a required rate move when you change the length of an innings, which is the same maths behind how cricket odds work.
