The 2026 season is the first with seven teams. Jamaica Kingsmen are the newcomer, and the league grew from 34 matches to 39 to fit them in (Wikipedia).

Six franchises carried over from 2025 and one is new. Team names in the feed are not always spelled the same way twice, so we normalise them before counting a table row.

Seven teams play a single round robin, then four go through to a playoff of four matches (Wikipedia).
The playoff is the same shape used by the IPL. Teams first and second meet in Qualifier 1, and the winner goes straight to the final. Teams third and fourth meet in the Eliminator, and the loser is out. The Eliminator winner then plays the Qualifier 1 loser in Qualifier 2 for the second place in the final.
That shape gives the top two a second life and nobody else one. Finishing second is worth much more than finishing third, which is why the last week of the round robin is usually the part worth watching.
Points are simple: two for a win, one each when a match ends without a result, none for a loss. Teams level on points are separated by net run rate — that is the column every published CPL table carries. We have not found the tournament's own written order of tie-breakers beyond that, so we do not print one.
How to follow it from India
For this season the Indian television rights sit with JioStar, and sub-continent streaming with FanCode and YouTube (rights table). Rights move between seasons and between platforms, so check the listing on the day of the match.
One thing does not change with the broadcaster. A cash bet on any of these matches is covered by the Indian ban on online money gaming, and that ban applies to an app based abroad as well. What came before this season
The league started in 2013 and this is the fourteenth season. Trinbago Knight Riders hold the record with five titles and come into 2026 as the defending champion (Wikipedia).
For an Indian reader the league matters for a second reason. Squads here mix West Indian players with overseas names, and form in the Caribbean in August is one of the inputs people use when they argue about the IPL auction in December. The final is on 20 September 2026. The round robin runs to mid-September and the four playoff matches follow it.
Why is there no net run rate in your table?
Our feed returns the result line of a match, not the runs and overs. Net run rate needs both, so we leave the column out rather than print a number we cannot show the working for.
How many teams play in CPL 2026?
Seven. Jamaica Kingsmen joined for this season, which took the schedule from 34 matches to 39.
Is betting on CPL legal in India?
